1. Information We Collect & How We Use It

A. Data Stored on Our Servers (Cloud)

We only collect the minimum necessary data to create your account and sync your subscription status. This data is stored securely in our databases (MongoDB):

  • Account Information: Name, Email Address, and Profile Picture (provided securely via Google OAuth).
  • Technical Identifiers: Randomly generated Extension/Device IDs to manage your account connections.

B. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

To provide dashboard statistics and blocking features, the Extension processes the following data locally on your machine. We do NOT transmit this data to our servers:

  • Browsing Activity: Time spent on specific tracked websites (e.g., YouTube, Facebook) is calculated locally to display your "Time Saved" charts.
  • Blocking Preferences: Your settings for which sites or content types (e.g., Shorts, Reels) to block.
  • Focus Sessions: History of your focus timer sessions.

Technical Note: Since this extension uses the unlimitedStorage permission, your historical usage data is retained indefinitely on your local device to provide long-term insights, unless you manually clear it via the extension settings.

2. What We DO NOT Collect

We operate on a strictly Local-First basis for productivity data:

  • ❌We do NOT track your browsing history on our servers.
  • ❌We do NOT see or read your personal messages, emails, or passwords.
  • ❌We do NOT collect the content of the websites you visit.
  • ❌We do NOT sell your data to advertisers or third parties.

3. Do We Sell Your Data?

Absolutely NOT.

We do not have access to your browsing data in the first place, as it stays on your device. The only data we store on our servers (account info) is never sold, rented, or shared with third-party advertisers. ClearMind is currently provided completely free of charge, and our business model does not rely on monetizing your personal information.

4. Note on ClearMind Mobile App

ClearMind operates consistently across platforms. Whether you use our Chrome Extension or our Mobile App, specifically regarding data handling:

  • The Mobile App works on the exact same "Local-First" principle.
  • Your app usage statistics stay on your phone.
  • We do not track other apps you use or your location.

5. Third-Party Services

  • Google OAuth: Used for secure sign-in. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • MongoDB Atlas: Used for secure, encrypted database hosting of your account information.

6. Your Rights & Control

You have full control over your data:

  • Access & Visualization: You can view all your collected productivity metrics via the Extension Dashboard or Mobile App.
  • Clear Local Data: You can instantly delete all historical statistics stored locally on your device via the "Settings" tab in the extension or app.
  • Delete Account: You can request full account deletion effectively removing your cloud data from our servers by contacting us.
